For a US student visa candidates need to apply through the US embassy or consulate, along with the requisite I-20 or IAP – 66 forms from the institution they have been admitted to.
Documents required:
A Valid Passport
- One Passport size photograph (in the format specified)
- A Non-immigrant Visa Application (Form 156)
- Other necessary requisites depending on the country you are applying to
- Form I-20 executed by the authorizing official of institution concerned, duly signed by the applicant
- Evidence of financial ability to cover the costs of the education and maintenance involved
- Evidence of Scholarship / Aid / Grant, if any
- Sponsorship Letter
- Educational Certificates
- Work Experience Certificate, if employed
- Bank Statements / Pass Books of the sponsors for the last Three Years
- Summary Statement of Assets and Total Income of Family Members
- Income Tax records of the sponsor and his family for the last 3 years
- Proof of all movable and immovable assets
- Visa fee (to be paid in the currency mentioned)
An applicant should apply for a student visa, at least 90 days before the registration date specified in Form I- 20.
Also include:
- Acceptance by an institution of learning. This can be proved with the help of form I-20(Certificate of Eligibility), filled out by the institution and duly signed by the applicant
- Knowledge of English Language – The applicants are encouraged to take the TOEFL test, to show their ability to handle English language with ease.
- Proof of Non-Immigrant Intent (Existence of permanent residence)
