The Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT) tests verbal and quantitative reasoning. The test has been widely accepted as a prime requirement for an undergraduate as well as a bachelor degree program in most of the US universities.  It is believed that more than two million students take the test every year.

SAT is a three – hour test for verbal and mathematical reasoning skills that the aspirants have developed over time.

SAT Reasoning Test - Verbal, Mathematical and Reasoning Skills – about 3 hours 20 minutes
SAT subject Tests – To assess the knowledge of a specific subject – about 1 hour.

Many of the reputed universities and colleges use SAT as an indicator along with class rank, high school GPA, extracurricular activities, personal essays , and teacher recommendations-about the  student's readiness to do college-level work.

SAT structure consists of 3 sections; each measured on a scale of 200-800. (All scores are multiples of 10)

The test includes three sections vice versa writing (60 minutes), mathematics (70 minutes), and critical reading (70 minutes).

Your SAT scores are analyzed with the scores of other applicants, along with the accepted scores at an institution, and can be also used as one of the criterion for giving merit-based financial aid.  Back
